Jabalia camp is the largest of the eight refugee camps established in the Gaza Strip after the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by Zionist forces in 1948.
"We are hostages of the Israeli wars," said Shirine Sheikh Ali, a displaced woman in the city of Rafah forced to flee for the eighth time since October.
The attack came after a heavy night of clashes with the armed Palestinian fighters, who tried to prevent the Israeli army from reaching the border crossing.
Emad Abu Suwailem, a Rafah-based Palestinian resident, told The New Arab that he and others were informed by the army to evacuate their homes immediately.
